Create your own dragon and bring a fantasy story into your space.
This suspended papercraft dragon sculpture is designed as a unique decorative centerpiece for many types of interiors — from creative studios and fantasy-themed spaces to modern rooms, atriums, and kids’ interiors. Hanging from the ceiling, the dragon appears alive in flight and creates a strong atmosphere, especially in soft evening lighting.
Included Files
- PDF templates for A4 and US Letter
- visual assembly guide
- step-by-step instructions
- SVG cutting files

Suitable for both hand cutting and plotter / laser cutting workflows.
Original Size (A4 / US Letter)
- Wingspan: about 80 cm (31.5 in)
- Height: about 15 cm (6 in)
- Length: about 44 cm (17.3 in)
I highly recommend scaling the model larger during production. Larger versions are easier to cut, easier to assemble, and create an even more impressive result.
To increase the size, simply print the templates on larger paper formats such as A3, A2, or other large-format sheets using full-page scaling.
Easy Assembly
Despite the detailed appearance, the dragon was specifically optimized for simple and comfortable assembly.
The structure uses only about 20 main parts, making the project much easier to build than it may initially appear. The legs and body were designed to stay visually detailed while remaining practical and beginner-friendly during assembly.
Realistic Dragon Anatomy
The model was designed with attention to anatomy and proportions:
- balanced wing size
- realistic limb structure
- long body proportions
- muscular legs
- scales and detailed paws
- expressive dragon head
If dragons existed, they might have looked something like this.
The dragon has a noble and expressive appearance — elegant, beautiful, and still slightly dangerous. It feels like a creature that could protect a kingdom, fly above castle walls, or disappear into the clouds after breathing fire at approaching enemies.
Even people who are not specifically dragon fans usually find the shape, movement, and atmosphere of the model impressive.
Recommended Materials
Recommended material:
The thicker the material, the stronger and more rigid the final sculpture will be.
The project was designed specifically for construction from flat materials without surface stretching, making it suitable not only for paper and cardstock, but also adaptable for plywood, plastic, EVA foam, or even thin metal when properly scaled and adjusted.
